Making Visible the Invisible (2005–2019)

A six-screen data visualization at the Seattle Central Library that aggregates patrons' hourly checkouts into four animations, making the community's shifting interests visible in near real time. Commissioned by the Seattle Arts Commission, it ran continuously for 14 years. Six-screen dynamic data visualization (permanent installation). With Rama Hoetzlein.

Pockets Full of Memories (2001–2007)

A participatory installation, commissioned by the Centre Pompidou, where visitors scan an object and describe it through a questionnaire, and a Kohonen self-organizing map arranges the growing archive by semantic similarity into an emergent order. Touchscreen scanning station, multi-screen projections, online database. With Timo Honkela.

We Are Stardust (2008)

A two-screen installation, commissioned by NASA's Spitzer Science Center and the Williamson Gallery, that maps the 36,064 sky observations made by the Spitzer Space Telescope from 2003 to 2008 across their astronomical coordinates, paired with a motorized infrared camera that senses the gallery's own thermal field. 2-screen projection, motorized infrared camera, custom software, 2 computers.

Starburst (2018)

A series of lenticular panels made by importing Spitzer Space Telescope observation data into architectural 3D modeling software, shifting through 18 degrees of viewpoint as the viewer moves. Lenticular panels (46.5" x 34¾" each).

Cell Tango (2006–2010)

An interactive installation of cellphone photographs contributed by the public, projected large-scale through four animations that group the growing archive by viewer tags and pull associated images from Flickr. Interactive installation. With Angus Forbes and Christopher Jette.
